Kate has engaged in a meditation practice since she was 16 years old and was certified as a meditation teacher within a yogic tradition by the time she was in her early 20s. Inspired by her meditation experiences and the study of the mind and the human condition she studied psychology and has volunteered and worked in the field of mental health promotion for almost 30 years. She has worked as a registered psychologist in private practice since 2005. In 2007 she was introduced to mindfulness-based psychotherapies that spurred on an extensively period of personal engagement and training in mindfulness-based modalities, in particular Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.
She enrolled in her first Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program through Openground in 2011 which lead her to commence the comprehensive training pathway through the Mindfulness Training Institute of Australasia (MTIA). She began teaching MBSR in 2014 and later taught the Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy course. Kate is thrilled to have completed the training program with the MTIA and was formally certified as a MBSR and MBCT teaching at the beginning of 2019. She runs the Practice for Mindful Living in Ballarat, Victoria, and offers Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy, Mindfulness groups, and offers a range of services to organisations focused on optimising personal and professional health and wellbeing.
