RN, BN, Masters PHC – preventative mental health stream, Grad Cert Counselling, APRHA registered.
Helen is a health professional who has worked as a nurse for many years in mostly rural community settings and spent several years developing and evaluating a variety of projects and services for primary health, aged care and disability providers across rural Southern Queensland. This included running chronic illness and stress management programs.
During this time a personal need for greater self care, holistic health and better ways of managing stress led to her own slowly evolving and transformative meditation and yoga practice. Helen’s skills development in mindfulness education includes attending in 2011 a Jason Siff silent retreat at Springbrook Qld, and since 2012, clinical supervision and mentoring from CFM-accredited MBSR teacher Alison Keane.
In 2018 Helen completed MBSR intensive teacher training with MTIA and Openground under the leadership of Timothea Goddard. Now a registered Mindfulness teacher, Helen currently teaches MBSR courses and weekly drop-in Mindfulness classes in her local rural community of Stanthorpe in South East Queensland. She hosts day retreats & accommodation at her tourist cottage on her and her husband’s certified organic farm.
